(More customer reviews)I bought this alarm at Target, having given up on digital alarms (I'm a very heavy sleeper). It was cheap, I think I might have even gotten it for less than $10 (which is why I'm not giving it just one star). It performed really well for around six months--good, loud alarm without being too loud. No snooze is a con, but for the price, eh.
The problem is, the guts are all plastic (ironically, the face is glass for some reason I can't fathom; perhaps if you drop the alarm and the face breaks, the designers figure you'll cut yourself). Again, understandable for the price.
Except: the metal hammer is fixed to the plastic arm that leads to the oscillator via two plates and two little (and I mean little) screws. The arm is so weak that the screws easily loosen themselves after repeated strikings (and simultaneously strip their holes) and even break the arm apart at its end. I tried supergluing the hammer back into place on the arm, but even that didn't work (apparently the alignment is very particular). So, that's why I give the clock two stars instead of the four (no snooze) that I would have given it: the designers couldn't put in either stronger plastic or a metal arm, making the entire thing ultimately useless as an alarm after less than a year.
